South of France is a vast region and is very attractive from different points of view.
Cote d Azur
This is also known as the French Riviera. Scandinavians, Britishers, Americans, the Dutch, the Germans and the Irish find this place very attractive. It has English radio stations and is curious combination of the high tech and glamorous. The Cannes Film Festival is the highlight of the region. The place is very small and is located between the Mediterranean and the mountains.
The Provence:
The Provence consists of a number of more spaced out villages with farmlands and vineyards. The towns are smaller and life is more rural. Marseille, Nice, Avignon, Aix en Provence, Montpellier are some of the towns in this region. The extreme south is sparsely populated and is ideal for persons wanting to be alone with nature. The Perpinan to the Biaritz are lonely stretches which have concentrations of English and Dutch colonies. The Musketeer d’Artagnan is in the Gers and is wide open. The people are gentle farm folk who eke a living out of tilling the soil.
The demand for holiday homes in this region is very high and most investors are on the look out for three bed roomed apartments or village houses. The prices therefore are high and range from €3, 50,000 to €4, 00,000.
Provence is well connected by air, road and rail. |
